Itthenrecovered slightly, reaching5 mkt in 2015.Sea transport followed a broadly similar upward trend. Its volumepeaked at4.5 million tonnes in 2011,which was comparable to that ofroad transport two years earlier.Followinga minor drop to4.2 mkt in 2013, its figureremained relatively stableuntil 2015.

Rail transport,by contrast,experienced much less significant changesduring the period.Althoughit wasthe dominant means of transportin 2001 (1.5 mkt), its figurewas surpassed byroad and sea respectively in 2003 and 2004,falling far behind the other two modes.Aftera steady increaseto 3 mkt in 2011, the volume transported by railremained unchangedin the next two years,before falling to2.5 mkt in 2015.
